Why this helps make better coffee

A large scale may overhang your drip tray or leave too little space for a cup. Without weighing, your dose or espresso yield can change without you noticing. That makes it hard to understand why the same beans taste different in the next shot. Start with a size that works in your own setup.

The mini coffee scale combines weighing with a timer and, according to the current supplier, offers auto-tare and auto-timer functions. Use these to repeat the same measurement process with fewer actions. Check the screen to confirm that taring and timing work as expected. The scale does not select an espresso recipe or correct the grind setting by itself.

Who is this suitable for?

For home baristas with little clearance beneath the outlet or a compact coffee setup they also take travelling. Choose it if your own cup sits securely on the weighing surface and you can read the display while brewing.

For whom is this not necessary?

Not the first choice if you mainly use large, wide dosing bowls or heavy filter-brewing setups without checking support. A compact size does not guarantee that every cup and machine fit together. If you already have a suitable scale that works well, a smaller housing alone will not automatically improve your coffee.

  • Compatibility

The current dimensions are 100 Γ— 95 Γ— 19 mm. Measure your drip tray, the clearance beneath the outlet and your cup together. Check that the scale has level support and that your cup does not touch anything else. A photograph of the same machine brand does not prove that it fits your particular model.

Advice from Geert-Jan the Barista Man

With over 10 years of experience in providing barista workshops at home, at businesses, and in Amsterdam, Geert-Jan is happy to share his advice.

Who is Geert-Jan?

From practice:

Geert-Jan de Baristaman helps you choose a consistent measurement method first. Record how much ground coffee you use, how much espresso you produce and when you start counting time. Use the same method when comparing two extractions.

My advice:

A targeted choice if space is your main constraint. Measure first, then choose a clear measurement mode and check the display. The compact size and automatic functions are aids; taste remains your benchmark.

Here's how to use this in your coffee routine

A barista tool only really works well when you know where it fits into your routine.

For dosing and during every brewing cycle

Geert-Jan's tip:

Test the automatic functions deliberately with an empty cup and a filled cup first. This helps you recognise the difference between manual starting, automatic starting and taring without guessing during an actual extraction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mini-koffieweegschaal met zwart weegvlak en digitaal display

Will this scale fit under my machine?

Check the 100 Γ— 95 Γ— 19 mm dimensions against your drip tray and add the height of your own cup. Also make sure everything sits securely and the display remains readable. A general brand reference is not a guarantee of fit.

Does this model automatically tare and time?

The current supplier lists auto-tare and auto-timer. Which actions activate these functions depends on the selected mode; follow the included manual and check the screen.

Is a good time enough for delicious espresso?

No. Compare time alongside dose, yield and what you taste. Do not treat a fixed time as a universal guarantee for every coffee bean and filter basket.

How do I charge this scale?

The current supplier specifies USB-C charging. Follow the included charging instructions. Do not rely on the old mention of AAA batteries.

Are milliliters and grams of espresso the same?

No. Do not treat the millilitre display as an exact measurement of espresso volume. Crema and density affect that volume. Use grams to compare your espresso yield.
