Puck Screen V2 58 mm with Magnet β Choose by Filter Basket Size
Puck Screen V2 58 mm with Magnet β Choose by Filter Basket Size
This 58 mm magnetic puck screen helps distribute brewing water across the coffee puck and reduce coffee residue on the shower screen. The supplier lists compatible Quick Mill filter baskets as an intended application. Check your basket and the available clearance: 58 mm and 58.5 mm are not necessarily interchangeable.
- A thin stainless-steel layer between brewing water and the coffee puck
- Helps reduce coffee residue on the shower screen
- Includes a magnet for lifting the screen after it has cooled

Suitable for
The supplier lists Quick Mill as an application for this 58 mm version. This helps guide your choice, but it does not mean that every Quick Mill model or replacement basket will fit. Check the internal diameter at puck height and compare with the 58.5 mm version if necessary. A nominal 58 mm group size does not determine which screen sits correctly in your basket.

Cleaning / Maintenance
Remove the screen after it has cooled and rinse away coffee residue. Follow the product's instructions for further cleaning and let the screen dry clean. Also clean the filter basket, portafilter and group head according to the machine manual. There is no single dishwasher, soaking or backflushing procedure prescribed here for every machine.

One 58 mm Puck Screen V2 and one magnet, according to the selected supplier variant βWith magnetβ. Portafilter, filter basket and espresso machine are not included.
Why this helps make better coffee
After brewing, wet coffee grounds sometimes cling to the shower screen. Meanwhile, espresso may flow unevenly because the grounds were distributed poorly, the tamp was uneven or the grind setting was unsuitable. These are separate issues. A puck screen can change the interface between brewing water and coffee and help reduce residue at the shower screen, but it does not tell you why a shot runs too fast or too slowly.
According to the supplier, the V2 is made from three layers of stainless steel and is 0.8 mm thick. Place it flat on top of the tamped coffee. Brewing water then reaches the coffee puck through this extra layer. This can help distribute the water and keep coffee residue away from the shower screen.
An evenly prepared coffee puck is still important: water can find an easier path if the grounds are distributed unevenly. Use the screen as part of a routine, not as a promise that channeling can no longer occur. The magnet mainly makes lifting the screen after use easier.
An extra step to help distribute water and keep the shower screen cleaner, provided the size and dose are right
Who is this suitable for?
For home baristas with a compatible 58 mm filter basket, including suitable Quick Mill baskets, who want to use a screen alongside a repeatable dose and a consistent cleaning routine. Most useful if you already pay attention to your basket, dose and daily cleaning. You are adding a step, not replacing a basic skill.
For whom is this not necessary?
Do not choose this 58 mm version automatically just because your machine has a 58 mm group. If your basket calls for a 58.5 mm screen, this smaller version is not an equivalent size choice. Do not add a screen if it tilts, does not lie flat or is pressed against the shower screen at your usual dose. If your grind setting is still highly inconsistent or your coffee is distributed unevenly, work on those fundamentals first. A screen is not an essential purchase for learning to make good espresso at home.

Advice from Geert-Jan the Barista Man
With over 10 years of experience in providing barista workshops at home, at businesses, and in Amsterdam, Geert-Jan is happy to share his advice.
From practice:
Geert-Jan de Baristaman helps you assess accessories using espresso fundamentals: compatible components, a repeatable preparation process and tasting what changes. This recommendation is based on the supplier's current specifications and the dimensions provided. It does not imply that your own machine or filter basket has been personally tested.
My advice:
My advice as Geert-Jan de Baristaman: start by choosing between 58 and 58.5 mm based on the actual basket fit. If the screen fits and you are willing to add another cleaning step, it is a sensible addition. Do not expect it to fix an unevenly distributed coffee bed. A consistent dose, suitable grind and level tamp give you a better foundation for judging the screen's effect fairly.
Here's how to use this in your coffee routine
A barista tool only really works well when you know where it fits into your routine.
Get into the routine:
After distribution and tamping, before inserting the portafilter

Geert-Jan's tip:
Choose the size before experimenting with your espresso recipe. Half a millimetre sounds small, but it is precisely why you should check your basket's internal shape. A poor fit cannot be fixed by extra tamping pressure. Record the dose, yield and extraction time of a familiar shot. Then compare the flavour as well. A drier puck or tidier appearance alone does not prove that the espresso was extracted better.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose 58 mm or 58.5 mm?
Compare the actual internal diameter of your filter basket at the height where the screen will rest. The supplier lists Quick Mill as an application for the 58 mm version, but a different or replacement basket may require another size. Do not use the nominal group size as your only guide, and never force a larger screen into place.
What does the magnet do on this version?
This is the version with a magnet. The magnet is intended to lift the magnetic V2 screen after use. Allow hot components to cool first; do not grab the screen with your fingers to remove it more quickly. The magnet does not change the required fit or extraction settings.
Do I need to adjust my coffee dose?
Always check: the screen adds 0.8 mm of height above the tamped coffee. The supplier suggests reducing the dose by around 1 gram as a starting point. How much is actually needed depends on your basket, coffee and clearance to the shower screen. Keep the dose appropriate for your basket and reassess the flavour whenever you make a change.
Does a puck screen prevent all channeling?
No. The additional layer may help distribute water, but a clumpy or unevenly tamped coffee puck can still extract unevenly. First check distribution, tamping, dose and grind. Change one factor at a time and compare flavour and shot data; a neater or drier puck alone does not prove even extraction.
How do I keep the screen and machine clean?
Let the screen cool, remove it and rinse away coffee particles after use. Keep the layers free of baked-on residue and follow the product's cleaning instructions for further cleaning. The screen may reduce coffee residue on the shower screen, but it does not replace cleaning the group head, filter basket and portafilter. Only use procedures and cleaning agents approved by the machine manufacturer.
