Why this helps make better coffee

You want fine-textured milk for cappuccino, but the pitcher feels awkward or you steam more milk than you use. A suitable size leaves room for the milk to circulate. The pitcher alone does not create microfoam: that fine, even texture also depends on your steaming technique, milk and machine.

This silver 350 ml milk pitcher has a sloping upper edge and a raised pouring spout. The stainless-steel wall conducts heat, so the pitcher becomes hot while steaming. Its shape helps you direct the milk stream but does not determine how you steam or pour. Start with the amount of milk suited to your drink and leave enough room for expansion.

A more considered size choice and greater attention to pouring technique, without any guarantee of latte art results.

Who is this suitable for?

For anyone who usually makes one small milk drink and wants an easy-to-handle pitcher. The 350 ml is the total pitcher capacity, not the recommended milk dose. Check whether your steam wand and chosen portion leave enough working space. A small pitcher does not automatically prevent milk waste.

For whom is this not necessary?

Not the first solution for large bubbles, overheated milk or unsteady pouring. In those cases, also look at your technique and your machine's steam power. If you only prepare very small portions, do not choose a large pitcher just because it looks more professional. A pitcher is not an electric milk frother.

  • Compatibility

For manually steaming milk with a suitable steam wand and then pouring it. There is no brand-specific connection. Check the clearance beneath your steam wand and whether it reaches deep enough for your milk portion. Not intended for heating milk directly on a hob or in a microwave.

Advice from Geert-Jan the Barista Man

With over 10 years of experience in providing barista workshops at home, at businesses, and in Amsterdam, Geert-Jan is happy to share his advice.

Who is Geert-Jan?

From practice:

At De Barista Shop, Geert-Jan de Baristaman helps you choose based on your drink and routine. Start with how much milk you actually use, not the largest pitcher or a complicated latte-art pattern. A suitable pitcher makes practice more manageable; technique develops step by step.

My advice:

Choose 350 ml if this size suits your milk portions and steam wand. Leave room in the pitcher and practise creating an even milk texture first. Clear latte-art patterns also require suitable espresso, pouring height and movement. The pitcher gives you a shape to work with, not an automatic result.

Here's how to use this in your coffee routine

A barista tool only really works well when you know where it fits into your routine.

Get into the routine:

After brewing espresso, while steaming and pouring milk.

Usage:

After brewing espresso, while steaming and pouring milk.

Geert-Jan's tip:

Prepare only as much milk as you need. Clean the pitcher immediately after use so milk residue does not dry onto it. Keep a separate clean cloth for the steam wand; do not use the cloth you use to wipe coffee residue from around the portafilter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I order the 350 ml stainless steel milk jug?

The button links to the correct variant at Barista Essentials. You pay there, and that store handles delivery, returns and any statutory right of withdrawal under its current terms. Check the current price and availability there too.

Do I pay extra when using this link?

No. Geert-Jan de Baristaman may receive a commission through the affiliate link; you pay nothing extra. You order from Barista Essentials.

How much milk can I steam in a 350 ml jug?

The stated capacity is the pitcher's total volume. The working quantity of milk is lower to allow room for movement and expansion. The right portion depends on your drink, cup size and steam wand. A fixed number of cappuccinos therefore cannot be guaranteed.

Will this jug automatically produce fine milk foam or latte art?

No. The shape and spout help with handling and directing the pour, but milk texture also depends on your milk, steaming technique and machine. Practise creating fine, even milk first, then work on your pouring motion.

When should I choose a different size milk jug?

When your usual portion leaves too much or too little room, or the steam wand is awkward to position. Choose based on your actual milk consumption and machine. A larger pitcher is not automatically an upgrade.
