    Dosing cup for Sage Impress

  • Suitable for

Designed for the Sage Impress connection. The Barista Express Impress and Touch Impress are listed as compatible models. Do not confuse with the standard Sage/Solis dosing cup.

The supplier does not provide full external dimensions or capacity. Compatibility with other grinders or machine models is therefore not confirmed.

  • Material / finish

    Aluminum

  • Cleaning / Maintenance

Remove loose grounds after use with a soft coffee brush. Wipe away stubborn coffee residue with a slightly damp barista cloth and dry the cup thoroughly afterwards.

Keep the edges and wings free of accumulated coffee. Do not use abrasive materials. Aluminium and an unknown finish are no reason to assume it is dishwasher-safe; check the supplier's care instructions.

One aluminium dosing cup for Sage Impress, silver version. Portafilter, filter basket, scale and tamper are not included.

Why this helps make better coffee

The Impress workflow combines grinding and tamping. That is convenient, but perhaps you want to weigh your grounds separately first or break up the clumps with a WDT tool. Under the grinder you will then need a dosing cup that fits the connection of your machine.

A regular Sage dosing cup is not automatically suitable. The wings of this Impress version differ from those of the standard cup. Relying solely on β€˜54 mm’ can therefore lead to the wrong choice.

The cup catches the ground coffee from the built-in grinder. You then remove it, check your dose if desired, and pour the coffee into your filter holder. Next, you distribute the coffee and tamp it manually.

The convex inner base is designed to help with pouring. Some coffee may still remain; check the cup after pouring it out. The cup does not grind, distribute, or tamp the coffee itself.

Who is this suitable for?

A suitable choice if you use a Sage Impress and deliberately want to do more yourself between grinding and brewing. For example, because you want to check your dose separately or break up clumps before tamping.

Consider beforehand whether you also have a suitable separate tamper for this manual method. You are not buying a faster automatic routine, but a different way to prepare your coffee.

For whom is this not necessary?

If you prefer to continue using the standard Impress puck screen for dosing and tamping, you probably won't need this cup. An extra catch and pour-over step doesn't automatically improve that routine.

This version is also not a universal cup for every Sage, Solis, or Breville. For a machine without an Impress connection, you should look at the version designed for that purpose.

  • Compatibility

Barista Essentials refers to the Sage Impress models, including the Barista Express Impress and Touch Impress. Check the full model name on your machine and compare the connection with the supplier's photo. The word 'Barista' or the size 54 mm alone is not sufficient.

This cup replaces the filter holder under the grinder during grinding. Follow the instructions for use of your machine. Do not assume that the automatic dose guidance and tamp feedback will continue to work in the same way when working with a loose cup and tamper.

Advice from Geert-Jan the Barista Man

With over 10 years of experience in providing barista workshops at home, at businesses, and in Amsterdam, Geert-Jan is happy to share his advice.

Who is Geert-Jan?

From practice:

First, try the new method with your trusted beans and recipe. See if weighing and dividing separately helps you replicate the preparation more consistently. The taste in your cup remains the priority.

My advice:

My advice: choose this cup if you really want to work on your dose and coffee distribution. An additional tool is only useful if you know which step you want to improve with it.

Start with a fixed amount of coffee and the same recipe. Don't change your dose, grind, and tamping method all at once; otherwise, you won't know afterwards which adjustment made the difference.

Here's how to use this in your coffee routine

A barista tool only really works well when you know where it fits into your routine.

Get into the routine:

After grinding: weigh, dose, distribute and tamp manually

Usage:

After grinding: weigh, dose, distribute and tamp manually

Geert-Jan's tip:

With a coffee scale with a timer, you can monitor the amount of coffee and the espresso yield. You only use a WDT tool after you have poured the coffee into the filter basket. This keeps weighing and distributing as two distinct steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Zilveren doseerbeker met vleugels voor Sage Impress machines

Does this cup fit every Sage machine?

No. This is the version for the Sage Impress connection. Barista Essentials refers to the Barista Express Impress and Touch Impress, among others. A different dosing cup is available for standard Sage and Solis models; choose based on the full model name and connection.

Does the machine tamp automatically?

The cup only catches ground coffee. After dosing, you distribute and tamp the coffee manually. Do not assume that the automatic dose guidance or tamp feedback will continue to work the same way with this different method. Follow the instructions for your machine.

How much coffee does it hold?

The supplier does not state a confirmed volume or maximum weight for this Impress cup. Use the dosage that suits your own filter holder and recipe. Do not assume the volume is the same as another dosing cup.

What is the difference between black and silver?

Both versions are aluminium dosing cups for the same Impress connection. This page is about silver. The colour does not change the method; simply choose what suits your coffee station.

How do I clean the cup?

Brush away loose grounds with a soft coffee brush. Wipe away coffee residue with a slightly damp barista cloth if necessary and dry the cup afterwards. Be especially careful to keep the edges and fins clean and do not use any abrasive cleaners.
