Spare parts for barista tools: replace what you need

A worn knock bar, bent brush bristles or a missing magnet: sometimes you only need a replacement part. Here you will find three parts for specific Barista Essentials tools. Geert-Jan de Baristaman helps you check which part belongs to your tool. The knock bar fits the mini knock drawer, the brush heads fit the grouphead brush with a replaceable head, and the separate magnet works with the Puck Screen V2. Choose based on the tool you already own so you can replace just the part you need.

First check your Barista Tool, then choose the part

Your knock box still works well, but the rod is worn. Or your brush handle is fine, while the bristles are bent. In that case, a spare part may be enough. In this collection, therefore, first search for the tool you already use. The brand of your espresso machine is usually less important than the model of the knock box, brush, or puck screen when it comes to these parts.

A new rod for the mini knock box

The spare knock box rod in this selection belongs to the Barista Essentials mini knock box. Look at your own knock box, the old rod, and the way it is attached. The supplier also sells rods for other knock boxes and bins. This does not make them interchangeable. When ordering, make sure you choose the version for the mini knock box.

First remove coffee residues so you can see what the old rod and the attachment look like. If only the rod is worn and the knock box is otherwise fine, you can specifically look at this part. If the attachment is also damaged or you no longer know the model, first have what you need assessed. The pictured knock box does not belong to the spare part.

Replace the brush head if the bristles are bent

The spare heads for the group head brush belong to the Barista Essentials brush with a replaceable head. With that model, you unscrew the old head and screw the new one on. First check whether your brush is designed for this. A brush from another brand may have a different connection, even if the handle looks the same.

If the bristles are so bent that you can no longer properly reach coffee residues, it is a practical time to consider a replacement. A new head does not replace cleaning: keep the handle and the connection clean as well. For cleaning the machine itself, follow the machine manual. You do not need to remove any parts of the machine to replace a brush head.

Lost the magnet? First check your puck screen

The spare puck screen magnet is intended for the Barista Essentials Puck Screen V2. With it, you can remove the screen from the filter basket. First check whether you have that version and whether your current screen may have already been supplied with a magnet. With a new screen, a spare magnet is therefore not always necessary.

The fact that a screen is made of metal does not mean that this magnet works with it. The supplier confirms the combination with its own V2. The size of your espresso machine does not determine this choice; the type of screen does. The magnet also does not change the size of the screen that must fit in your filter basket.

This is how you prevent ordering the wrong part

Place your existing tool and the old part next to each other. Look up a brand or model designation and check the product photos and description. Measure where that helps, but do not use a similar length or screw type as proof that it fits. If in doubt, take a photo of the entire tool and a detailed photo of the connection. This allows the seller to assist you much more specifically.

Choose a spare part or a complete tool

Geert-Jan uses Barista Essentials tools during his almost daily workshops. From that practical experience, he helps you understand what you are replacing and why. Are you actually looking for a complete knock box, a new brush, or an entire puck screen? Then use the corresponding collection below. This keeps it clear what you are buying and prevents you from mistaking a spare part for a complete tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Collapsible row

That has not been confirmed. The parts in this collection have been selected for the Barista Essentials tools mentioned. Check the exact model and connection. A similar photo, length, or thread is not enough to determine whether a part from another brand will fit.

Collapsible row

The version selected here is intended for the mini knock box from Barista Essentials. The supplier also sells other versions. Please check the β€˜Mini knock box’ variant when ordering. You are purchasing a separate rod, not a complete knock box.

Look at the bristles and how well you can remove coffee grounds with them. If the bristles are permanently bent and you can no longer reach the edge properly, then it makes sense to replace them. Do check that you have the Barista Essentials brush with a replaceable head; these heads are not universal.

Collapsible row

No. Barista Essentials states that this individual magnet only fits its Puck Screen V2. Not every metal screen is magnetic. Check the version and what you already have, so you don't buy an extra magnet when one is already included with your screen.

Look up the brand and model of the tool. Take a photo of the complete tool and of the place where the part is attached. Indicate what is worn out or missing.
